Superfly, the festival organizer, released a statement Friday afternoon, announcing its plans to suspend the event. But it hinted that it might return some day. The festival has a contract with the city through but the agreement allows Superfly to skip or cancel years. The festival came with a smattering of controversy, particularly for the neighborhoods surrounding Overland Park Golf Course, where the festival was staged. Neighbors feared raucous crowds, intense traffic, loud noise and garbage that might come with the festival that featured dozens of bands, performance art, food and other assorted activities. But Superfly worked hard to mitigate those concerns, and most neighbors had no complaints once the festival left town. Officials reported that 55, people attended the first-year festival. Only one arrest and dozens of traffic citations were reported. In a news release, Denver officials said they were disappointed Grandoozy would not return in but held hope that it would be back in City officials learned of the change on Thursday.
