Not much to do in evenings, some entertainment during mealtimes Good singing and combos. Food very good - especially liked Docksiders, where staff very friendly and professional - great atmosphere.
Also liked Coco's at lunchtime. Rainbow Garden was too large and impersonal. You need to book early every day to get the restaurant of your choice at a time of your choice. We liked the wildlife - lots of birds - diving pelicans in the bay, a frigate bird that would come over every pm to buzz the seagulls, and lots of nectar loving tiny birds around in the garden areas. Saw plenty of fish around the bay - and on one day we saw a stingray there.
We think the wind must have blown the pesky critters elsewhere! Building work going on near to main swimming pool on atlantic side of hotel, but it was not intrusive at all. When completed it will make the area a little too crowded in our opinion, and possibly may spoil some of the views of the Atlantic. Hotel is a little isolated. English Harbour is nearest tourist area and is about 5 miles away but well worth a visit. Taxis not cheap if less than 4 people sharing. Hired a car to explore island, but apart from a few happy finds, such as Pigeon Beach at Falmouth Harbour, didn't find too much of interest on the island.
Need a good map, as there are very few road signs. Can recommend the boat trip round the island organised through our Virgin Holiday rep. Obey boat crew's instructions when sea is choppy to avoid injury - Atlantic Ocean is unforgiving! Someone on our trip taken off with injured nose. Loved the snorkelling and the lunch was good too. Cheery crew made the day even more enjoyable.
Beautiful beach and excellent hotel - Review of Pineapple Beach Club Antigua - All Inclusive
Overall we felt that the St James's Club was a friendly and pleasant place to stay for two weeks in our Winter, however in our opinion it is not what we would call a 'luxury' hotel.
We did see some other hotels which looked better, but would be far more expensive. The results are mildly evident here especially when comparing to St.
James which is a This was our fourth visit to Antigua which we consider one of the nicest of the Caribbean Islands for many reasons.

James which is a family resort. We're not talking Hedonism II but the nightlife and bar scene is much more 'active' here. Having said that I would also temper this with the fact that the average age group at Pineapple appears to be mid 40s to mid 60s. Twenty somethings would be bored here. Pineapple Beach Club is situated on a quarter mile long 'perfect' beach.
Lot's of space for everyone and lot's of sand. There are two main pool areas to enjoy as well. Waterfront activities are somewhat limited in offering but no-one seemed to complain and everyone we met and talked to were thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Travis Isaac MADE the tour - Adventure Antigua, St. John's Traveller Reviews - TripAdvisor
This is not a jet ski, parasailing, party all night kind of place. More like beach a volleyball, bocce ball, hobie cat kind of place. At the same time there were no shortage of activities and excursions being offered and enjoyed by patrons of the Activities desk for those looking for more choices. Dining options included a central dining area plus two optional choices. The main dining room Topaz is perched right on the beach and offers buffet theme dining every night. The food is well prepared and interesting at least as much as a buffet can be.
They serve breakfast and lunch at this location as well. You can also choose to dine at either of two alternative restaurants on the property. Chef Pietros, which is adjacent to Topaz offers 'reservation only' table service several nights a week. The other option is the Pineapple Grill located near the entrance to the resort in a building also housing the well stocked library. The Pineapple Grill kicks it up a notch with higher end table service and a more intimate atmosphere.
In all cases the food is well prepared and tasty. There are also two light lunch facilities on the property. The Pelican Snack Grill located by the main pool provides light lunches and snacks throughout the day and into the evening.
Not to be missed is the unique Outhouse Restaurant. It's difficult to describe how to find it but anyone there will quickly provide instructions and a rave review. The Outhouse is an open air cookery located at the top of the hill at the highest point on the property.
It affords an amazing panoramic view over the ocean and the beach. There are numerous lookout points from which to enjoy the long views. You can even see across the point to another sister resort, the Verandah.
