I recall reading a talk from Elder Nelson in which he indicated that the church teaches general principles and does not spend time teaching exceptions to general principles. He actually wanted them to be active in a religion and thought this was a good idea. I think people get carried away with the whole social status of a Doctor which is really unnecessary. Not his wife and kids. Mormon's view marriages outside the temple to be counterfeit and you can't get into the temple without converting to the religion. I say to you, decisions determine destiny. There are many great and wonderful people in the church, and the real evil about the church is that it harms those great and wonderful people. He is absolutely, hands-down my favorite human being on the planet.
