Cllr John E. Gilham

John Gilham

John was first elected in 1953 representing Shepton Mallet; he has experience of Town, District and the County Councils, including Chairman of the Councils, finance, planning, housing and environment committees and education at the county council.

He is the current Planning Chairman, he also serves on the Service committee and the Community Development working body.

John has worked in the Towns industrial base; he represented his union members at national level.

He has had experience on advisory bodies within the National Health Service.

John is a keen bandsman; he plays with several local brass bands, he also plays golf.
