Recreation Ground Trust (Collett Park)

The Shepton Mallet Recreation Ground Trust is responsible for Collett Park and maintenance of the Park is undertaken by the Town Council which is funded by way of Council Tax from the Community. Collett Park covers some 11 Acres and was gifted to the Town by Mr John Kyte Collett. The story goes that he was removed from playing on the land as a boy and vowed he would ensure this did not happen to others. Over a period of time he purchased parcels of land and in 1906 gifted the complete area to the Town for the enjoyment of all.
